Name: Sarah Coote
Age: 23
Current Home: Philadelphia, PA
Medium: Painting

Describe your work (1-2 sentences):
I use the Internet to access images for my work, and enjoy painting people and interior spaces. I work primarily in oil and gouache paints in a range of different sizes.
Share a little about your background (2-3 sentences):
I grew up in the Philadelphia area and went to school in Providence, RI to study painting at the Rhode Island School of Design.  I’ve never doubted the idea of being an artist and continuing a creative practice.  This is my first time visiting the mid-west.
What do you hope to accomplish and/or gain from your stay at Grin City?
I am planning to complete a series of 10-20 paintings during my 6-week stay for exhibition in the summer/fall. I hope to gain some creative insight from my peers who will be staying at the farm with me and I look forward to relaxing, free from the routine stresses of my everyday life at home.
If money wasn’t an issue, what would you create?
I would quit my job, start a gallery, make some huge paintings and hire a studio assistant.
Favorite book: Housekeeping by Marilynne Robinson

Favorite food: cheese and fresh bread

Unusual skill: I can wiggle both of my pinky toes

Favorite saying: Get off your phon
